COCOA HOUSE
Inaugurated in 1965, the Cocoa Tower embodies the agricultural prosperity of yesteryear. It takes its name from the cocoa industry, then the mainstay of the south-western Nigerian economy, whose revenues made its construction possible. Long the tallest building in West Africa, it housed the offices of the Western Nigeria Marketing Board, responsible for marketing agricultural products. Recently equipped with brand-new elevators, the Cocoa Tower now houses private offices as well as a small museum on Yoruba culture on the 23rd floor.
