CATHÉDRALE ET CLOITRE SAINT-VINCENT
A building with two architectural styles, and a pretty square lined with stone and timber-framed houses in Chalon-sur-Saône.
Chalon-sur-Saône is one of the few towns in France still to possess a complete "cathedral group", comprising the episcopal palace, canons' houses, church and cloister. Built in the5th century and rebuilt between the 11th and 16th centuries, it is both Romanesque and Gothic. Closed for renovation until at least the end of 2025, it is not open to the public, unlike the cloister, a jewel of impeccable decoration that has been destroyed and rebuilt several times since the year 1000.
