Founded in 1524, the city is relatively small compared to other regional capitals in the country, with some 90,000 inhabitants. Tlaxcala is not particularly known for its beauty or the homogeneity of its architecture, although its historic centre has some buildings and museums that are worth a look. There is no need to spend a day or more exploring this city or to sleep there, but if you decide to take a short break on the road, some of the sites of interest are the Palacio de Gobierno, Palacio de Cultura,Plaza de Toros and other religious buildings
