Housed on the grounds of the Lycée Militaire d'Autun, the museum evokes over a century of history linking all students of military schools, colleges and lycées. The former seminary built in the 17th century, which houses part of the Lycée as well as the museum, boasts remarkable architecture. It houses a rich collection of objects, images and documents, which continues to be enriched by donations from former students.

La visite est gratuite, alors autant faire un don en fin de visite pour l'association en charge du musée. Il y a un petit tambour à l'entrée à cet effet.
le lycée militaire est toujours en activité, son bâtiment est remarquable avec ses tuiles vernissées comme à Beaune (ici vous êtes en Bourgogne à Autun) de plus vous pouvez visiter gratuitement dans l'un de ses bâtiments le musée des enfants de troupe, qui est très instructif et bien mis en valeur avec un cheminement de visite très intéressant. Prévoir une pièce d'identité, et c'est gratuit!
