The Tourist Office of Grand Autunois Morvan welcomes and informs you all year round.
With the help of our advisors, discover the landscapes of Autunois Morvan, land of the Celts and Aedui in ancient times, where vegetation reigns supreme and wildlife lives in harmony with its environment.
Outdoor activities abound in Autunois Morvan: downhill mountain biking, hot-air ballooning, paragliding from the Uchon signal, rock-climbing near the Brisecou waterfall, sailing on the Vallon lake... The region' s hiking trails and greenways are just waiting to be explored!
In terms of heritage, Autunois Morvan boasts many listed monuments, remains and historic buildings.
Take a trip back in time, starting with the ancient menhirs of Époigny, the Bibracte archaeological site and museum, the ancient theater of Autun, the pyramid of Couhard and the temple of Janus. Then follow in the footsteps of the medieval past with visits to the Rolin Museum, Couches Castle, Saint-Lazare Cathedral and the small churches of the surrounding villages.
Then discover the Renaissance period with the Château de Sully, and step back in time to the 19th century with the Art Nouveau facades of downtown Autun. Finally, rediscover the 20th century through the industrial mining past of Épinac and the Paldenshangpa temple at La Boulaye, created in the 1970s.
The Tourist Office, which has been awarded the "Aventures Mômes" label, offers children a year-round treasure hunt: "La Chasse aux Monstres" (Monster Hunt), a fun way to discover Autun's heritage (Kit available for hire from our offices). And for older children, discover the Gallo-Roman imperial city with the City Game "La Pierre du Savoir" (The Stone of Knowledge)!
Family activities: the Office's storytelling walks take you on a journey through the history of our villages, with fascinating tales and local legends. Each step will reveal surprising anecdotes, well-kept secrets and emblematic places!
The Autunois Morvan is a land of gastronomy, so come and meet the local products and the people who make them, directly on the farms that bring the region to life, or at the markets. While you're here, don't forget to savor the wines of the Côtes du Couchois, produced under the Burgundy appellation d'origine contrôlée.
And last but not least, take home a souvenir of Autunois Morvan from the Tourist Office store!
