In the mecca of Empordà DO wineries that is Capmany, a visit to the Oliveda group is a must. Founded in 1948, the company still maintains its family structure and currently produces 1,500,000 liters of wine, divided between the DO Empordà-Costa Brava and Catalunya designations of origin. The cellars are mainly dedicated to indigenous varieties such as Grenache and red Carignan. You'll also want to visit the tap museum, featuring 5,000 pieces from all over the world, from the Middle Ages to the present day, a creation of grandfather Oliveda that has been maintained ever since. Another family tradition is the creation of extremely creative wine labels, going so far as to produce a Hello Kitty poster for Chinese customers to illustrate a bottle of cava.
