In feudal times, Kurayoshi prospered as a castle town. Many historic buildings, such as the white-walled warehouses (Shirakabe Dozogun), can still be seen today. The area has also been designated by the Japanese government as an important conservation area for traditional buildings. Nicknamed the "Little Kyoto of San'in", the ancient city still hides beautiful architectural treasures today. You can feel in these streets the charm of yesteryear, far from the hustle and bustle of modern cities. The city offers a fun stroll along the old railway tracks, but also therapeutic hot springs.
