Located at 1 h 30 by car from Tabriz on the border with Azerbaijan, Jolfa does not have major tourist attractions but is an interesting step to explore the church of Saint-Stéphane, explore the mystical Valley of Araxe or visit Azerbaijan. Although its area is reduced, it is one of Iran's most active border cities. The city centre is around Ashura Square. On both sides, the bazaar as well as restaurants, and in its extension, the border crossing. Please note that if you wish to visit Azerbaijan, you must obtain a visa from the consulate in Tabriz.
