In the Sierra Norte, 125 km from Puebla (2h30) and 227 from Mexico City (3h30), Zacatlan is a small village in the clouds, where the mist comes and goes at all hours of the day. Situated on the edge of the beautiful Barranca de los Jilgueros, the village is surrounded by pine forests and, everywhere, apples are grown which are then transformed into soda, cider or jam. The village, without presenting an overflowing architectural wealth, has some pretty streets where to stroll and presents some interesting buildings like the ex-Franciscan convent, the oldest of the State of Puebla. But it is especially its surroundings which will delight the enthusiasts of walks and wild nature.
