At an altitude of 2,450 metres, the village is perched in the middle of the National Park of the same name, created in 1898. It was founded in the 16th century around the exploitation of a silver vein, which was to continue for several more centuries, with the English and then the Americans taking over from the Spaniards in the exploitation of the mining concessions of San Antonio and La Guadalupe; it is the English presence that gives the village its appearance: two-storey buildings with wooden frames, gabled roofs covered with red corrugated iron. The village and its imposing nature bring together many ingredients for an excellent stay: picturesque and colourful architecture, rocky peaks to climb, canyons to explore, climbing, hiking, mountain biking and a great deal of fresh air.
