Bridgeport is a ghost town located on the south shore of the Canadian River. It is 4 miles west of the Pony Bridge (Highway 281 - Route 66 from 1930-40). As you approach the river, you can see the remains of the piers of an old bridge, now destroyed, the Key Bridge; built in 1921, it connected the 1920-30 Route 66 (from Geary) to Bridgeport. This part of Route 66 is now a dirt road that is difficult to drive on and leads to a dead end, as the river can no longer be crossed. Access is difficult and the site is of limited interest, so consider it before making the detour
