Like Dwangwa, Kande is a small town on the M5 with no particular charm. It has 10,000 inhabitants. Its only interest lies in the bathing establishments near the lake. The best known is the Kande Beach Campsite and Lodge. Local public transport stops on the main road 3 kilometers from the lodge, which attracts many travelers crossing Southern Africa. Some travelers combine their stay in northern Malawi with a trip to Mozambique or Zambia.
