To the west of the Mulanje massif and a few dozen kilometres south of Blantyre, lies the Thyolo region, famous for its thousands of hectares of tea plantations. Grown since the late 19th century, Malawi tea is now one of the country's main economic resources. The road that crosses the region is very picturesque and offers beautiful views of these green tea houses. Some properties are open to visitors and allow them to discover the secrets of the famous drink's production.
