In Cinquera, one of the villages most severely affected by the civil war in El Salvador (1980-1992), former guerrillas converted to revolutionary tourism by displaying vestiges of the conflict to earn their lives. In the central park of this village of 1 800 inhabitants, located 70 kilometres northeast of the capital of San Salvador, visitors are staring at the relics of this war which resulted in 75 000 deaths and 7 000 disappeared. The tail of a helicopter of the El Salvador air force shot by guerrillas in 1991 was erected in monument, protected by a circle of unserviceable M -16 and AK -47 automatic rifles.
