" Kill me, but do not kill the motherland! '. In 1772, when the Sejm of the Union of Poland-Lithuania, meeting in Warsaw, was discussing the Union's first share, Tadeusz Rejtan threw himself on the ground trying to block the exit of the Members of the Chamber and said these words, in the desperate attempt to prevent the Union from sharing. A politician in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Tadeusz Rejtan (1742-1780) was originally from Gruševka, a small village north of Brest. Here the Rejtan family, nobles of Prussian origin, had a vast property since the th century. Used as a club for the youth of kolkhoz after the war, and as a deposit of potatoes after the fall of the Soviet Union, the residence of the Rejtan, entirely in wood, remains in a state of abandonment. What remains of its old splendour is not much, but this place full of charm deserves absolutely the detour, especially for the chapel of the family Rejtan. Built to accommodate the body of Yuzef Rejtan, the last descendant of the Rejtan family, died in 1910, it also houses the remains of Tadeusz, brought here in 1930. The majestic and majestic hotel is in the neo-Gothic style and is one of the most impressive monuments in Belarus.Gruševka is located a few kilometres east of Lyakhovitchi.
