Palo Verde National Park contains one of the greatest biodiversities of Costa Rica! A soft green shrub with delicate yellow flowers gave its name to this 16,804 hectare park located 240 kilometers northwest of San José, and 30 kilometers west of Cañas on the Interamericana. Along the Tempisque River, the swamps and mangroves are home to aquatic birds, palmipeds and wading birds common to all of Central America (279 species recorded). On the banks of the Tempisque River, crocodiles can reach 5 meters in length. Rainfall: 1,500 mm. An essential ornithological stage!
