Ten years ago, San Juan was a very quiet place; today, cruise ships dock in the harbor, numerous tourist infrastructures have been developed (mostly North American investments), and the town promises to be a lively seaside resort for years to come. The reasons for such success are obvious: a privileged natural environment, superb beaches (most of which are still wild - let's make the most of them!), an average annual temperature of 27°C, optimal conditions for surfing or fishing, and seaside restaurants where sunsets spread their variegated radiance. In short, even if San Juan del Sur is no longer a small village at the end of the world, its streets still retain an authentic atmosphere and it's a must-see for travellers. What's more, from July to January, the arrival of Paslama turtles on La Flor beach is a spectacle not to be missed (and far less expensive than in Costa Rica)!
