Two kilometres west of Cacaxtla, there is another small archaeological site, called Xochitecatl, "place of the flower line". The site consists of 4 buildings, the Flower Pyramid, Spiral Building, Serpent Building and Platform of volcanoes. It is one of the oldest settlements in the Puebla-Tlaxcala valley. It is estimated that the construction of Xochitecatl began around 800 BC and that the city was inhabited until the th century. Many statuettes of pregnant women were found on the site, suggesting that Xochitecatl was a ceremonial centre dedicated to Tlazoltéotl, the goddess of fertility and crops. The statuettes and other objects that have been discovered inside the museum museum can be seen. The Xochitecatl site is open from Tuesday to Sunday from a. m. to p. m. (entry: $ 55).
