YSER TOUR
The very first Yser Tower, with the Peace Gate, symbolizing the victorious peace, located in Dixmude.
The very first Yser Tower was built in the 1930s as a tribute to the Flemish soldiers who died on the Yser front between 1914 and 1918. During the Second World War, numerous Flemish and German ceremonies were held here. During the Second World War, however, the tower was destroyed. Like the phoenix rising from its ashes, the Yser Tower is the perfect symbol of victorious peace. The Porte de la Paix, through which you enter the tower, was built using the remains of the first tower.
