The Uitkerse Polder reserve, the largest of its kind on the coast, has huge water resources in Blankenberge.
The "Uitkerkse Polder" reserve stretches from De Haan to Zuienkerke on 1,400 ha. It is the largest of its kind on the coast: typical open polder landscapes, meadows and pastures without trees or hedges... It has huge water resources, of which the Blankenberge canal is the main axis. This attracts many migratory birds. Field birds also nest here in large numbers. Observation posts are accessible from the path. The visitor center presents an interactive exhibition about the reserve.
