SCUTE MARITIME MUSEUM
Museum with objects, drawings, photos and short films about fishing in Blankenberge in the past centuries.
This museum brings to life the maritime heritage of the Belgian coast, particularly that of the old fishing port of Blankenberge. As early as 1991, master sailmaker Achilles Wittevrongel, from a long line of sea fishermen, expressed the wish to build a "scute" or Blankenberge longboat. So he rebuilt this legendary longboat, which can be seen in this warehouse. Since 2008, the museum on the top floor has presented objects, drawings, photos and films on fishing in Blankenberge in past centuries. A leap into the past of artisanal fishing.
