VAN HOOREBEKE
Read moreCédric, son of Luc, is a unique artisan chocolatier whose products are to die for. Since 2008, he has amazed us with his many and varied creations. Here, we're a far cry from the big-brand chocolatiers known in France, but who aren't, after all, true, authentic chocolatiers like Van Hoorebeke. In addition to the rich variety of pralines, we recommend confectionery and gingerbread. Finally, you can personalize your chocolates, adding a touch of originality to your gifts.

First of all, it is located in a building of character, which dates from the 17th century, and its facade has bas-reliefs representing the seven works of mercy. Its specialty? The cuberdon - the nose, in French -, a cone-shaped candy made of gum arabic, filled with raspberry syrup (fragrant and very sweet), typical of Ghent. Other Ghent sweets include mokken (round aniseed cookies) and knopkes (a kind of cookie).
MARCHÉ D'ARTISANS
Read moreThe Groentenmarkt square is lined with stores selling the famous cuberdons, Tierentyn mustard, local produce (in the Grande Boucherie), a cheese factory and the city's oldest bakery. On Saturdays and Sundays, from the beginning of March to the end of December, jewelry, ceramics, decorative objects and more are on display in the square. There are plenty of stalls offering good food and drink on the go. You can enjoy a glass of cava or oysters while watching the craftsmen at work.
