Gruut blonde, Gruut brune, Gruut ambrée, Gruut blanche, Gruut Inferno

A special flavour of spices fleet once again in Grand since April 1st, 2009. A fruity fragrance (gruut in Dutch) more specifically. However, many years ago that same spices mixture, used until the end of the Middle Ages in most beers before the use of hops, has fallen out flavour. The challenge of three women led by Annick De Splenter was therefore double: to produce beers from gruit and to highlight once again in the city of Grand a brewery. Now it is done. And if the hotel look like to a microbrewery, Gruut exceeds this concept for selling also its beer outside. Currently, the range is composed of five beers. La blonde, la brune, l'ambrée et la blanche are made from gruit instead of hops which however,  situated in the tasty Inferno (9% alc. vol.). The brewery is located along Ketelvest, this arm of water connecting la Lys to l'Escaut. On site, guests can enjoy traditional cuisine in a setting of "brasserie ouverte". La Gruut whose production amounts today with over 500 hl a year, is already distributed in the United States.
