9 km south-west of Deinze and 27 km from Ghent, in the picturesque village of Machelen-aan-de-Leie, you will find this museum dedicated to the work of Roger Raveel. Born in 1921, this painter is considered to be one of the most important Belgian artists after the Second World War. The museum houses some 300 paintings and 2,000 drawings, not all of which are on display. His work, although influenced by Expressionism, does not fit into any specific category of art history. A must for any modern art enthusiast. Guided tours on request.
