PROSPER MAUFOUX CHATEAU DE SAINT-AUBIN
Prosper Maufoux, owned by the Piffaut family since 2010, is based at Château de Saint-Aubin. Visit/tasting by appointment.
Prosper Maufoux, owned by the Piffaut family since 2010 and the repository of a two-hundred-year-old family winegrowing tradition in Burgundy, has moved from Santenay to the prestigious Château de Saint-Aubin. This exceptional setting offers a breathtaking view over the vineyards and the château's grounds.
On the route des grands crus, the estate covers 9 hectares in the heart of the most prestigious appellations: Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru, Meursault 1er Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru and Saint-Aubin 1er Cru. The techniques employed favor sustainable viticulture. The domaine's philosophy is based on one essential principle: if human know-how can enhance it, only the terroir can truly express itself.
The wines are matured in oak barrels whose origins and toast are meticulously selected and adapted to each appellation and vintage, allowing optimum expression of the terroir while seeking a discreet, elegant woodiness. To reach full maturity, the wines are aged for 10 to 18 months in the château's cellars, which are open to the public.
The estate offers a full range of wine experiences, from guided tastings to electric bike rides through the vineyards. To prolong the immersion, four spacious guest rooms with parquet floors and views over the vines and access to the heated outdoor pool promise a memorable stay in the heart of winegrowing Burgundy.
