CAP CANAL - DISCOVERY TOUR - CREATIVE TRAIL

Cap Canal in Pouilly-en-Auxois has a 3.5 km walking trail to make a short stop at nine points of interest.
A 3.5 km footpath in the port of Pouilly, highlighting elements of the history of the Burgundy canal, including the Halle du Toueur, a tunnel-like structure designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. The Halle du Toueur houses a former electric tugboat known as a "toueur", which used to pull merchant barges under the Voûte de Pouilly, which had no towpath. This toueur was powered by a hydroelectric plant, which can also be seen along the route, as can Lock 1 and the entrance to the Voûte. Both a curiosity and a technological breakthrough, it was one of the first electrical installations in the region and in France. To discover the canal path in a different way, the tourist office invites you to stop off at one of the 9 points of interest and draw a picture of the place. Drawing kit sold, sheets offered.
