Apo Island looks like Capri as it gradually takes shape from the boat crossing from Dauin. With its magnificent cliffs and turquoise waters, this island of just 72 hectares and 2,000 inhabitants - who are proud to say that they all know each other - has an incredible charm. The village is nestled between two high, overgrown hills. Life is peaceful, in communion with nature in this unspoilt little paradise. If you arrive early in the morning before the tourist boats arrive, only a few fishermen's bancas float peacefully in front of the beach. The island has become famous for some of the best diving in the Philippines. People come here to discover the 15,000 m² marine sanctuary, which protects the waters around Apo up to 300 m off the coast. People come here for snorkeling and diving, to meet turtles and admire corals of all shapes and colors. The island's inhabitants make their living from tourism, and the Covid period was a very difficult one. Today, the island is reborn and they are delighted to see travellers returning, so you'll be welcomed with enthusiasm. The interior of the island is just as charming and peaceful. Not a tricycle, not a car, not a motorcycle, only the crowing of roosters destined for the sabong, the conversations of the locals, the bursts of laughter from the children and here and there the sound of a radio or the pawns of a bingo game being shuffled. An enchanted interlude!
