Travel Guide Kinashi

The village of Kinashi and its surroundings are home to 80% of the national market for bonsai (especially pine), which has been cultivated here for over 250 years. There are about 100 nurseries open to visitors. Markets are held on the 5th, 15th and 25th of each month, and the bi-annual market on March 15th and November 15th is well worth a visit. An annual festival is held at the end of October at the Ueki bonsai centre, along with the Takamatsu bonsai exhibitions, where real masterpieces are shown in Tamano and Ritsurin parks. JR Kinashi Station is a 15-minute train ride from Takamatsu on the Yosan Line.
