Naracoorte, on the Riddoch Hwy. is located 336 km southeast of Adelaide and 20 km from the Victorian border. The town is famous for the nearby Naracoorte Caves National Park, home to caves where fossils of prehistoric animals have been discovered. This national park is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Naracoorte is also the gateway to the Coonawarra Valley, on the way to Penola, one of South Australia's four great vineyards, with a great reputation, especially for Cabernet Sauvignon.
