Robe is a pretty fishing harbor and resort for Adelaide residents. This small town of 1,250 people is pleasant and fairly spread out. More than 80 historic houses, the first ones dating from 1840, are scattered throughout the city, such as Customs House, Royal Circus St., which dates from 1863. However, its tourist activity is concentrated around its marina but also its beaches and pleasant lakes. It was here that the Frenchman Nicolas Baudin first discovered the neighboring Guichen Bay in 1802. The economic activity develops only during the 1950s, with the lobster fishing industry, then with tourism.
