Travel Guide Tenejapa

Located 35 kilometers east of San Cristóbal (1 hour and 15 minutes drive), Tenejapa is surrounded by rocky mountains and can be reached by following a road that crosses several valleys where many small traditional farms are located. The village has some old buildings, such as the church of San Ildefonso and the ruins of the church of San Sebastián. You will recognize the authorities by their special clothes. This village is best visited on Thursday (early morning), market day: the atmosphere is very authentic, the colours quite beautiful: a real traditional and local market.
