Benalla is located on the Hume Freeway, 40 km southwest of Wangaratta. This small town of 10 500 inhabitants houses several buildings in the late 1860 th century, such as Commercial Hotel (1882), Town Hall () and National Bank. With the Broken River, Benalla Lake offers a pleasant leisure area in the centre of the city, with a swimming pool. Each year the city organizes the Benalla Festival, a week of festivities in the streets of Benalla where many animations are offered.
