Harrietville, a pretty little village, is the last on the Great Alpine Road before reaching, 30 km further on, Mount Hotham, the High Country's highest bridge. At the last census in 2021, this village had fewer than 360 inhabitants! It's a former gold mine. People come here mainly for its proximity to the Mount Hotham ski resort. In spring, however, the beautiful Ovens River meanders through Harrietville, lined with attractive parks where you can enjoy a picnic. Don't miss Pioneer Park, home to a museum and exhibits on the region's history.
