Built in 1754, the Château de Fontaine-Française boasts superb classical architecture, with a central main building flanked by two wings. It is famous for the renowned literary salons held here by Madame de Saint-Julien and Madame de Staël, with the philosopher Voltaire as a prestigious guest. Its gardens feature 400 portico-trimmed lime trees and sphere-trimmed yews, earning it the Jardin remarquable label in 2015.
