Badabagh literally means "big garden" and was commissioned by Maharawal Jait Singh in the early 16th century. He also built a dam and a reservoir which were used to supply water to Jaisalmer, 6 kilometers away. It is also the cremation place of the royal family and many cenotaphs overlook the garden. Few tourists travel specifically to Badabagh. On the other hand, the village being located at the gateway to the desert on Ramgarh Road, it is a favorite stop for tour operators who take visitors to the Sam Dunes. The site is somewhat distorted by a large wind farm nearby.
