Located in the transept of the former Saint-Etienne church, this museum houses casts by Dijon sculptor François Rude
The Musée Rude is discreetly located in the transept of the former Église Saint-Étienne, whose choir foundations date back to the 11th century. Here, casts by the famous Dijon sculptor François Rude take pride of place. Among his major works is the monumental allegorical relief Le Départ des volontaires, known as La Marseillaise, dated 1792 and seen on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which impresses with the quality of the expressions shown. Other notable and original works by this figure of Romanticism are also on display, such as Le Réveil de Napoléon.
