Dijon's Cathedral of Saint-Bénigne and its crypt are listed historic monuments, and include a must-see rotunda.
Close to the train station, the Saint-Bénigne cathedral also adjoins the Musée Archéologique. Built between 1280 and 1393, the edifice began life as an abbey church, before becoming the cathedral we know today in 1792. Featuring beautiful Gothic architecture, the building also houses a Romanesque-style crypt, prompting the authorities to classify the edifice as a Monument Historique in the 19th century. Placed under the patronage of Saint Bénigne, a 2nd-century Christian martyr, the cathedral still boasts a number of paintings, as well as a large 18th-century organ.
