Great place to take pictures of whales and beluga dancing at Chugah State Park with many trails
Within the boundaries of Chugach State Park, this site, accessible from the Seward Highway, is ideal for capturing the dance of whales and beluga whales in the Turnagain Arm on a day of communion with nature. If you're not lucky, you can make up for it with beautiful shots of streams and waterfalls at Mc Hugh Waterfalls, a lovely little 20-foot waterfall. Many trails lead to lookouts, the one parallel to the creek goes back to its source at McHugh Lake. Beware of bears that may be encountered in the area.
