A cave that served as a refuge for Paleolithic hunters over 20,000 years ago in Balot.
This cave overlooking the Laignes valley was already in existence in prehistoric times. It served as a refuge for Paleolithic hunters 20,000 years ago. Excavations starting in 1834 unearthed animal bones: horse, bear, reindeer, wolf, hyena, rhinoceros, mammoth... Today, the site boasts a 1.4 km botanical trail where you can discover 80 species of trees and plants. Can you recognize them all? Accessible by mountain bike and on foot.
