Located a few kilometers from Zrenjanin, along the Bega River, the village of Ečka, population 3,000, is a little gem of Vojvodina. It is difficult to place the beginnings of the settlement of the city. Even though there is no record in the archives before the 18th century, archaeological excavations have shown the presence of many semi-nomadic tribes, traces, such as the Sarmatians. It is a charming little town, with a center that breathes indolence. Its architecture, as for Zrenjanin, is more Austrian and Hungarian than Serbian. Indeed, the Serbs lived there for a long time in minority. A beautiful half-day visit.
