25 km from Panćevo, on the road to Zrenjanin, this is a village not to be missed. This small village of 7,000 souls was already known in the days of Yugoslavia for its many naive painters, including Suzana Chaloupova and Martin Jonaš. The majority of this school, known as Kovaćica, is made up of peasants who indulge in their favorite pastime after the workday is over.The other characteristic feature of this village is its Slovak language, a legacy of its colonization by the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa. The central church is of the Lutheran rite and the houses, low as everywhere in Vojvodina, are brightly colored and sometimes even rather kitsch
