CHOCOLATERIE DE TINCHEBRAY
Remains of the former Tinchebray abbey, with its Sainte-Marie chapel and Cémoi factory
From the Vire-Tinchebray road, you can see in the distance part of the former abbey founded by the Pères de Sainte-Marie, but burnt down in 1919 when Pierre Fortin, a butter manufacturer in Vire, set up the "Chocolaterie de l'Abbaye". What remains is the abbey's east wing and the Sainte-Marie chapel, which, now occupied by the Cémoi factory, form an atypical building. Tip: after the chapel forecourt, discover the rear building by walking down the Chemin des Châtaigniers.
