The "gateway to the Llanos" is located at the foot of the Cordillera Oriental, at an altitude of 467 meters. The capital of the department of Meta is a quiet city, close to the great plains with an infinitely flat horizon that extend into Venezuela. Villavo offers a glimpse of llaneraculture, and its agrotourism farms attract on weekends from city dwellers looking for warmth, swimming pools and rivers. The town itself is not very interesting, but the surrounding area offers many activities: kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, paragliding, wildlife viewing, and of course discovering the traditional way of life of the plains people, some of whom travel on horseback and enjoy wonderful sunsets every night
