Fascinating landscapes, two hours from Bogotá. The Sumapaz National Park was for a long time a dangerous area because of the presence of the Farcs, a period that is now over. It opened for a time to ecotourism, but its trails are currently closed to protect the very fragile biodiversity. The park covers 142 112 ha, at altitudes ranging from 700 to 4 375 m. It features two major tropical mountain ecosystems: the Andean forests and the famous páramo, which constitute huge natural reservoirs of pure water to supply Bogotá and neighboring departments. The national park protects 43% of the largest páramo in the world
