The oldest garden in the Netherlands with four parts: pre-garden, winter garden, Clusius garden, Japanese garden
This garden is the oldest in the Netherlands. It contains four parts: the pre-garden, the winter garden, the Clusius garden, the Japanese garden. As well as the orangery and the tropical greenhouses. If you don't have enough time, at least visit the Clusius Garden (free of charge) at Binnenvestgracht 7. Charles de l'Ecluse (Clusius) was a Flemish physician and botanist born in Arras in 1525. He traveled and worked all over Europe, and founded the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden while he was professor of botany at the same university around 1593.

Nous avons particulièrement appréciés la serre aux papillons et le jardin tropical parfaitement dépaysant (un gout des îles au milieu d'Amsterdam). Un moment de sérénité pour un tarif modique (9 €). A faire absolument.

Enchanting place even if the visit to take place in October (most plants were in dormancy, except in the greenhouses). This visit will be one of the best created in Leiden. Plan a day because the garden and the greenhouses are very large and there is to see tremendously for lovers of the gardens.
The best at Leyde and around
