The park includes the entire coastline formed by dunes and mangroves as well as the coral reef located offshore. The seabed is superb and it is a privileged site for the observation of sea turtles and the extraordinary dugongs. These large marine animals with massive bodies have an almost human appearance. Their silhouette and their song have bewitched some sailors and given birth to the myth of mermaids. You can get there by speedboat (1 hour from Lamu) or by dhow (2 to 3 days). Ask the hotels for information. However, due to the risk of insecurity in the area, excursions to this park are becoming rare.
