This large hilly island (the largest Kenyan island in Lake Victoria) is part of an ancient volcanic complex. Its shape is reminiscent of a fish with its head facing east. It is inhabited by a friendly population that lives from fishing and agriculture. A stay in the island is an opportunity for a total change of scenery and a warm contact with the inhabitants. You can also see interesting rock paintings that cover the walls of a cave located in the north of the island. To get there, it is advisable to be accompanied by a guide. There are no roads or motorized vehicles on the island.
