20 kilometres north of Ciudad Valles, the Abra-Tanchipa nature reserve houses 230 species of plants (including orchids), 50 mammal species (notably Jaguar), 30 reptile and amphibian species and hundreds of birds and invertebrates. Here is the impressive Gruta de los Sabinos, which is admired by imposing stalagmites and stalactites, fossilized shells in rock and even groundwater basins called gours. Take a look at the Cueva Tanchipa, which houses thousands of bats and ancient tombs. Bathing more than recommended in the thermal waters. Go with a guide.
