Umfurudzi Safari Park covers 76,000 ha, a little over 100 km northeast of Harare. Bordered on the south and east by the Mazowe River (in which it is possible to fish), it consists mainly of hills, ideal for hiking. Since the beginning of a major wildlife reintroduction program in Umfurudzi in 2010, wildlife is quite abundant (antelopes, monkeys, but also elephants and wildcats) and there are also some rock paintings, as well as old Shona and Portuguese forts. The park is managed under a public-private partnership between Zimparks and the Pioneer Corporation Africa.
