One of the particularities of the western section of Kariba Lake is the Chete protected area (word meaning "alone" in Tonga), which stretches over 1,000 km ² between the Senkwe and Muenda rivers. It is a hilly and wild region, traversed by many small rivers and very poorly developed in terms of roads. You should not make the mistake of understanding Safari area for a classic safari area, because in Zimbabwe it means hunting area. Chete is a hunting concession. Large mammals, although they are fierce, are still present: elephants, buffalo, leopards, lions, zebras, hippopotames, crocodiles, hyenas and many antelope species.
